We now need to add our drivers for new hardware we wish to deploy, this looks harder than it is, we will need the physical hardware unboxed and booted up to a desktop on the version of windows we are trying to deploy. There doesn’t need to be any special setup here, it just needs to be at the desktop. We will be getting the relevant information of this hardware during this process; we will be pulling off the System Manufacturer and System Model. We need to write them down exactly as they appear otherwise the drivers will not install once the build has finished. Please follow the instructions below to complete the driver import.

  • Log on to MDT Server using username administrator
  • Download & extract all the driver required for the new model of computer into a folder
  • Click Start – Open Deployment Workbench
  • Expand the tree on and click Out-of-Box Drivers
  • Click The Windows 11 or the version of windows the drivers Corresponds to.
    • If there is no Windows folder with the version of windows you wish to install the drivers for, Right click Out-of-box Drivers and Click New Folder
    • In the New Folder Wizard Type the New Windows Name e.g. Windows 12

  • We now need to make a make folder for the new manufacture of the laptop / PC Dell, Asus, HP etc but this needs to be exact.
    • Bootup the new laptop /PC and get it to a working desktop, no need to join a domain just as standalone. In the search or Run Box type exe, System information will appear. Take note of the exact wording including any . for example, the system manufacturer for VMware is VMware, Inc. and the system model is VMware7,1
