From time to time, we will need to add new or update Windows Operating Systems, This process is Fairly easy to import, you will need to download and extract the Windows ISO from your Volume licencing portal. Extract the iso to a folder that is accessible on the WDS Server. The Following Instructions will guide you through the import process.
- Log on to MDT Server using username administrator
- Download & Extract the Latest Windows Build ISO from Admin Portal
- Click Start – Open Deployment Workbench
- Expand the MDT Deployment Share and click Operating Systems
- Expand Windows 11 if its windows 11 you’re importing or the windows OS name that you’re importing.
- If you are importing a newer OS with no folder created Right Click operating systems in the tree and click new folder.
- In the wizard that appears type in the folder name e.g. Windows 12 and press next
- Press Next again – Click Finish the folder will be created
- Right Click the Operating system folder – Click Import Operating System
- Import Operating system wizard will appear
- Select Full Set of source files and press next
- In the Source directory browse to the extracted Windows Build you downloaded in step 2 and click next
- In Destination directory name, Name the Windows Version e.g. Windows 11 24h2
- Press Next – Press Next again (The OS Import Will Start) once completed Press Finish
- Back in MDT Workbench you should see the additional Operating Systems – right click and press Delete the ones that are not relevant for example home edition
- In the delete Selected Items Wizard – click Next and Click next again Click Finish. Repeat the delete option until your left with the Version of windows you wish to deploy.
- In Deployment workbench – Right Click MDT Deployment Share – Click Update Deployment Share
- Click Next – Next again – Click Finish
